Queen Letizia marks the centenary of the first medical air evacuation in Spain

The first medical air evacuation in Spain took place on April 14, 1923, during the Rif War in Morocco. It involved the transportation of a wounded Spanish soldier from the battlefield to the hospital in Tetuan, which was more than 100 kilometers away. The success of this operation paved the way for the development of medical air evacuation in Spain and marked a milestone in the history of Spanish military aviation.
