On Tuesday, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were bid farewell with honors at Madrid-Barajas Airport as they departed for a three-day State Visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The aim of the trip is to continue the traditional friendship between the two royal houses and to underscore and reinforce the bilateral ties and relations between the two countries. The last State Visit to the Netherlands took place in 2001 during the reign of King Juan Carlos, while Spain received the State Visit of Queen Beatrix in 1985.
