The King and Queen of Spain held a number of video conferences on Monday from their home within the Palace of Zarzuela.

They first spoke with represtaives from the Spanish Red Cross. The humanitarian organisation has carried out more than 160,000 interventions in the first week of 'Red Cross Plan RESPONDE' against COVID-19 with the help of over 11,200 volunteers, which they hope to increase to over 40,000 in the coming weeks. In coordination with the authorities, they have helped transfer infected individuals via ambulances, installed 5 temporary hospital infrastructures, deployed 15 operations centers, delivered medicine, food, and basic necessities, and set up accommodation spaces. The objective of the 'Red Cross Plan RESPONDE' is to reach more than 1,350,000 vulnerable people over a two-month duration with an estimated budget of 11 million Euros.
On Saturday the 28th March Their Majesties contacted hospitals in different autonomous communities where they were informed of the hospital's current situation. On Monday they continued their direct communication with an interest in the youngest patients.
Her Majesty later spoke with the Confederación de Autismo Espana (Autism Spain), who have asked that this group be considered a high-risk population for hospitalisation during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Their final meeting was with a Spanish automobile producer, SEAT. They heard how SEAT has pivoted to support the healthcare industry and converted their production lines to manufacture respirators and other medical equipment.
