The King & Queen of Spain held video conferences with the CNSE and Theatres

Queen Letizia held a video conference with the State Confederation of Deaf People (CNSE). In Spain, there are 1,064,600 people who are deaf or hard of hearing and over 70% of those are 65 years of age or older. The CNSE informed Her Majesty that the main obstacle faced by deaf people during the pandemic is access to information and communication. The associative network CNSE demands compliance and the appropriate implementation of legislation on the rights of deaf people. In addition, they request that it be mandatory for helplines, internet pages or any other service provided by the public sector conveying information or facilitating communication related to the pandemic, to be fully accessible to this group.

Later Their Majesties held a video conference with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the CEO of the Teatro Real Madrid, along with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Gran Teatre Barcelona and the General Director of the Cultural Institution. The managers explained that the culture industry has been greatly affected due to the pandemic. Teatro Real Madrid has developed the 'My Opera Player' platform which allows access to productions from Teatro Real Madrid and Gran Teatre Barcelona. Teatro Real Madrid has also made donations to the Hospital Clínico San Carlos, the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and the Hospital IFEMA de Emergencia for occupational risk prevention material.
