The Queen of Spain inaugurated the first edition of the Tourism Innovation Summit 2020 (TIS 2020), at the FIBES conference and exhibition centre in Seville.
Their Majesties were expected to attend TIS together. However, King Felipe VI is currently self-isolating after having come into contact with an individual on Sunday who has since tested positive for COVID-19. Before entering the Conference Center, Her Majesty and the attending authorities observed a minutes silence on the occasion of the International Day Against Gender Violence.

The TIS aims to become the largest international forum for innovation in the tourism sector. It provides leaders of the tourism industry with a space to exchange strategies and technological solutions to define the actions of the tourism sector for the next decade. The new event will be held annually with the aim of attracting investment into the city and being the world's showcase for tourism technology. Seville was chosen to host the event due to its ambition to create an ecosystem that turns the city into a laboratory of innovations and a technological centre.
In the auditorium, after the official welcome by the director of TIS, Queen Letizia delivered her speech which was followed by a tour of TIS 2020.
